I met JJ last year at the Chico Buddy Walk. Buddy Walk, established by the National Down Syndrome Society, is an organization that advocates for inclusion and acceptance for children with Down syndrome. They hold a 1K/5K walk to promote awareness about Down syndrome. I was so excited to get to spend more time with JJ and his family when they booked a family session with me last Fall. Capturing joy in children is always my number one priority in any photo shoot with kids and there was so much to capture with this little guy and his family! Recently, JJ’s mom, Becky emailed me and let me know that she entered one of my pictures of JJ in a competition held by the National Down Syndrome Society and his picture won! It was played on the Jumbotron in Times Square in a slideshow honoring kids with Down syndrome. I am honored to know this little guy and to have had the opportunity to take his picture so everyone can see a glimpse of his sweet spirit! The picture of JJ is at minute 3:08. Please check it out!
