Newborn pictures are my favorite, but a Harry Potter themed newborn session? Yes, please! I have been so excited to take these pictures and meet this family. They contacted me this Fall and I have had so much fun planning this session for their sweet baby girl, Emma. I had to think about this carefully, because I couldn’t narrow my ideas down to one Harry Potter set up, so I tried to think of ways to do one Harry Potter shot and one regularly styled newborn shot for multiple set ups. They sent me pictures from my own website that they liked of my newborn work, which really helped me to plan their session because I was able to see what images from my own galleries fit their style. The props that they brought went perfectly with the ones that I had prepared for their session. Their stuffed owl fit just just right in my bird cage, just like Hedwig and their handmade miniature owls looked darling on my little newborn bed (although I must admit I was a little nervous handling their tiny paper owls and I am used to dealing with babies who are also tiny and fragile!). Little Emma arrived early and her session ended up being scheduled on her due date. I’m so excited to share these pictures of a darling family newborn shoot with a theme that is near and dear to my heart. Here are a few of my favorite images from their newborn session:

I also had a little fun in Photoshop, recreating this image from the first Harry Potter movie:
