These maternity pictures are being posted a little late, but with Christmas card season I haven’t had a chance to put them on my blog! I love taking pictures of expecting mothers and newborn babies, but this one is extra special because this mama is my little cousin. I do most maternity sessions in the evening, but since she lives in northern California (I mean really northern, practically Oregon!), she had to get home before dark, so we did her session in the early morning. This made for an interesting challenge because Jodi wanted some pictures in the water and it was not summer weather AND all the water in the creeks around us is freezing these days. I have always wanted to take maternity pictures in the water and we have some beautiful spots for this in and around Chico, but I always feel bad asking a woman who is eight months pregnant to hop in the creek. This girl isn’t afraid of a little cold water though and like me, will do anything for a great picture! Woody on the other hand was happy to stand on the side of the creek and cheer her on, while she ventured in the freezing water. I love these pictures and all of the other ones we captured to document this exciting time for our family. This was a special time for my family and I can’t wait to post more pictures of their newborn baby girl! Here are a few of my favorite s from their maternity photo session:
