After over two months of being home in Northern California, I finally got to take pictures yesterday and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Let’s talk about the perfection in detail. First, this session was with one of my sweet little clients that I have gotten to know over the past year. I met little Saylor when she was just a few days old and I have been able to watch her grow from a sleepy newborn, to a crawler, to a sitter and now to a little walker. We met in one of my favorite locations, a pasture on my family’s ranch. I had checked ahead of time to make sure that the grass and light was looking good, but when I arrived and drove through the gate, I saw something I hadn’t seen from the road…tiny little white wildflowers that looked like they were made for a little boho outdoor shoot. It’s always amazing how one location can look so different from season to season and even from year to year. So, we had the perfect little family, a gorgeous location and they arrived in the most perfect colors. The pastels and neutrals fit the location like a dream. Samantha was wearing a romantic flowy dress and Saylor had a darling floor length skirt with a peach bodysuit that added a little pop of color and texture. We topped this beautiful session off with a watermelon cake smash. Saylor was totally into it! Her mama was close to getting a sugar free cake but decided to go with the real thing and Saylor didn’t have to be convinced to dive right into her sweet little watermelon cake. It was the perfect first session back with such a darling girl and her family. After a year of capturing milestones, cake smashes are always a little bitter sweet because the next big milestone is a year away. It was especially hard this time, because I couldn’t even hug them goodbye but I left with my heart full, looking forward to the next time we meet. Here are a few of my favorite images from their family session and one year cake smash:
